Breanna Stewart Injury Update- When Will Breanna Stewart be Back Following Leg Injury Against Sparks?

Garima Ranawat

Breanna Stewart finished the game with three points and a rebound.

The New York Liberty faced two setbacks on Saturday as they locked horns with the Los Angeles Sparks. Not only did they suffer a 101-99 defeat to their lower-ranked counterparts, but also ended up losing Breanna Stewart to a leg injury. The seven-time WNBA All-Star forward had to exit the game-play early in the first quarter, and soon it was announced that she would not return for the remainder of the game.

Three minutes into the game, Stewart seemed to get her lower leg injured while running up the court. She went to the locker room and never came back to the bench. Stewart entered the game leading the Liberty in scoring at 19.0 points per game, steals, and blocks at an average of 1.5 and 1.4 through 23 games, respectively. The 2018 and 2023 WNBA MVP finished Saturday night game with three points and one rebound.

When Will Breanna Stewart be Back in Action?

There is no update whatsoever for Breanna Stewart’s injury so far. In fact, the Liberty didn’t even specify which leg was injured. However, Stewart was seen hopping around on her left leg, suggesting her right leg might have gotten hurt. Not only this, but following the game, Liberty head coach Sandy Brondello was asked for an update of Stewart’s injury. Brondello responded to it and said, “No update, hopefully she’ll be okay.”

This is to be noted that Stewart hadn’t missed a game yet this season. Apart from Stewart, the reigning champions have two other injuries as well, including Kennedy Burke and Leonie Fiebich.
