Brandon Ingram reportedly be open to short-team deal next offseason

New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram reportedly wants to take a specific contract next off-season. The 27-year-old is playing his ninth season in the NBA, averaging 23.2 points on 46.8 percent shooting, 5.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists.

Ingram who averaged 23.1 PPG for the Pelicans since being traded from the Lakers in 2019, is linked with Rich Paul-led Klutch Sports Group. He is going towards the max contract in future and a short-term contract would lead Ingram to success in the NBA.

As per the fresh report from The Stein Line newsletter via Jake Fischer, “The current options are slim. So there’s an expectation among league sources familiar with the situation that Ingram and his new agent representation at Klutch Sports will be open to pursuing a short-term payday starting next season.”

Ingram wants to part ways with the Pelicans who are 5-18 in the West. It could surprise New Orleans who wants to improve heading into the crucial phase of the league. As per the reporting of Charania via ESPN, Ingram, an impending free agent, reportedly hopes to look for a winning, competitive team at his next stop.

Ingram had the chance to sign an extension for a longer run but both parties didn’t reach. It means, his journey in New Orleans is over in 2025. Pelicans executive vice president David Griffin said in June, “Brandon Ingram wants to stay here. At the same time, there is a financial reality that we all deal with.”

Ingram, entering in his final year of the contract, missed five matches for the Pelicans who are second-last in the Western Conference. On his return, the 2020 NBA All-Star racked up 29 points in a 126-124 win over the Phoenix Suns.
