The Boston Celtics are set to take on the New York Knicks for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals tonight, and the question to be asked is, can the Knicks pull off another upset against the defending champs? Let’s find out more.
The Boston Celtics are the reigning, defending champs currently, but they did not look like they were the champs in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Celtics were leading for the majority of the game, and were up by as many as 20 points. However, they blew the lead and lost the game that was supposed to be theirs. The Celtics missed an NBA record, 45 three pointers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, and they simply had no answer for the Knicks’ scoring outburst in the final two quarters. Celtics’ superstar Jayson Tatum had one of the worst shooting performances we’ve seen, as he attempted 15 three pointers while making only 4 of them.

It is highly unlikely that we’ll see an even worse performance than what the Celtics had in Game 1, however, the team’s offense revolving mostly around chucking threes may need to be slowed down a little, as we saw what could happen if those shots don’t fall.

The New York Knicks played outstanding brand of basketball in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Their star, Jalen Brunson, proved why he deserved the Clutch Player of the Year award with the may he got hot in the fourth quarter of the game. He knocked down very crucial shots in the fourth quarter which helped the Knicks rally back from a 20 point deficit. Huge credit also goes to Josh Hart, and Mikal Bridges, who played excellent defense, and locked up the entire Celtics’ offense.

In Game 2, we expect the Knicks to maintain a similar play style to what we saw in Game 1, and if they are to win both games at Boston, they will need bigger and better performance from Karl Anthony Towns, who scored just 14 points on 13 attempts. He’ll need to be a bigger part of the offense, which can help relieve some of the tension off of Jalen Brunson.
