Blue Jackets Send Goalie Jet Greaves to AHL for More Playing Time

Columbus Blue Jackets have loaned goaltender Jet Greaves to their AHL affiliate, giving him more opportunities to develop and gain experience.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have sent goaltender Jet Greaves down to their AHL affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters, giving the young netminder a chance for more ice time and development.

Greaves, a Cambridge, Ontario native, has played six NHL games for Columbus this season, posting a 2-2-2 record with a 2.83 goals-against average (GAA) and a .905 save percentage. Despite his limited time in net, he is the only Blue Jackets goalie with a positive goals saved above expected (+0.9), according to Money Puck. His most recent NHL appearance came in a 2-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils, where he made 18 saves.

The 23-year-old made his NHL debut in April 2023 and has since played in 16 career games, tallying a 5-9-2 record with a .910 save percentage and a 3.21 GAA. His AHL experience is far more extensive, with 152 career games under his belt, boasting a 77-50-17 record, a 2.93 GAA, and a .907 save percentage.

Greaves has been strong in the AHL this season, ranking sixth in save percentage (.915) and 12th in wins (16-10-6 in 34 games). He started the year with a bang, earning AHL Player of the Week honors in early January. His only NHL appearance that month saw him make 31 saves in a win over the St. Louis Blues. However, he struggled briefly afterward before regaining form in mid-February. Since then, he has allowed just 11 goals in his last six AHL starts.

With this move, the Blue Jackets are prioritizing Greaves’ continued growth in the minors, where he can get more consistent starts and further refine his game.
