On Wednesday night, SL Benfica are set to host SSC Napoli at the Estadio da Luz. Both clubs are chasing valuable Champions League points as they vie for a spot in the knockout phase.
Benfica are still hungry for their first home win in the campaign. Whereas, Napoli, led by a confident attack, are arriving with momentum and belief. They’re ready to extend their European advantage.

The Portuguese side remains without key absentees. Attackers Dodi Lukebakio and Bruma, and defender Alexander Bah are all ruled out for the Napoli clash. However, the rest of the squad is available. Coach Jose Mourinho can field a near-full-strength side. Leading the frontline is Vangelis Pavlidis, the Greek striker who leads Benfica’s attack. He will be tasked with finding crucial goals to keep their European hopes alive.

Napoli are heading to Lisbon missing several important players. Midfield creativity is hampered by the absence of Kevin De Bruyne, Frank Anguissa, Billy Gilmour, and Stanislav Lobotka. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Alex Meret remains unavailable. Still, the nucleus remains fit. Rasmus Højlund is expected to spearhead the attack. He will be supported by David Neres and Noa Lang on the flanks. Scott McTominay and Eljif Elmas should anchor the midfield.
This match pits Benfica’s desperation to win at home against Napoli’s attacking ambition. Benfica have struggled defensively in Europe. In their last 12 home Champions League fixtures they’ve managed just one win. Meanwhile Napoli’s away record in Europe has been patchy but they remain a threat going forward. They’ve scored in the majority of their recent outings. Given the stakes and the likely open nature of the game, over 2.5 goals appears to be a realistic expectation.
Rasmus Hojlund is entering this match in fine form. They’ve just bagged a brace in Napoli’s victory over Juventus. It’s a sign of growing confidence and sharpness in front of goal. With Napoli’s midfield, though depleted, still supplying service to the lone striker. Hojlund represents Napoli’s best chance to break through Benfica’s shaky European home defence.
On Benfica’s side, Vangelis Pavlidis is the main attacking outlet amid several absences. Benfica desperately need goals to stay alive in the group. And given responsibility and regular starts, Pavlidis is well-positioned to either score or create a key chance. His involvement offers real value at +155, especially if the match opens up.

Benfica have a home advantage and are desperate to stay in contention. Their injury-hit squad and recent poor European home record make them vulnerable. Napoli, even without several midfielders, bring momentum, attacking talent in Hojlund and Neres, and tactical cohesion under Antonio Conte.
Expect a fiercely contested game with both sides pushing. Napoli likely edging it 2-1 through Hojlund’s finishing and a disciplined defensive effort. Meanwhile Benfica land one via Pavlidis before chasing equaliser.
