On Thursday, the Atlanta Dream (22-13) will host the Minnesota Lynx (28-6) in a WNBA regular-season match-up.
The Dream enters the match-up after a heartbreaking 72-74 loss against the Las Vegas Aces. Rhyne Howard led with 19 points, but a 11-point fourth quarter lost the game for the Dream.
They are in the third spot with a big shot at the second rank.
Meanwhile, the Lynx comes into this game with a 75-85 loss against the New York Liberty. Courtney Williams scored 17, but a 6-22 effort from the three-point line proved to be decisive.
This loss broke a six-game winning streak. Minnesota is primed to finish 1st in the standings, so they won’t mind the defeat much.
Can the Dream give the Lynx some more hiccups here? Check the predictions related to player props, total, and spread here.
Atlanta Dream
Dream Expected Starting Lineup
SG: Rhyne Howard | SG: Maya Caldwell | SG/SF: Allisha Gray | PF: Naz Hillmon | C: Brionna Jones
Key bench players: C: Brittney Griner, PG: Te-Hina Papao, PF: Nia Coffey.
Injuries/Updates: Jordin Canda is out till late August.
Minnesota Lynx
Lynx Expected Starting Lineup
PG: Courtney Williams | SG: Kayla McBride | SF: Bridget Carleton | PF: Jessica Shepard | C: Alanna Smith
Key bench players: SG: Natisha Hiedeman, SF: DiJonai Carrington, PF: Maria Klindikova.
Injuries/Updates: Napheesa Collier is QUESTIONABLE (Upgraded from DOUBTFUL).
The Lynx usually scores in the mid-80ish range, a consistent effort. On the other hand, they are one of the best defensive squads. They have limited their opponents to below 80 on numerous occasions.
On the other hand, the Dream usually scores in the late 70s and early 80s range due to their streaky nature. Defensively, they can be as good as the Lynx. It can translate into a low-scoring battle here.
Total: Under 161.5 for -110 at BetMGM
Here is an overview of my selections
| Picks | BetMGM Odds |
| Total U 161.5 | -110 |
| Spread- Lynx -2.5 | -110 |
| Rhyne Howard O 2.5 3-Pointers | +115 |
| Money Line- Lynx | -145 |
Kayla McBride O 2.5 3-Pointers: McBride has been one of the most excellent long-range bombers in the league for a long time. She has nailed 2.6 3-pointers per game this season, but has made fewer than 2 in four of the last five games.
I see her changing that here.
Rhyne Howard O 2.5 3-Pointers: Howard is also a laser long-range shooter like McBride. She doesn’t shy away from attempting even 10 shots from deep (4/11 in last game).
She has made 4 or more in three of the last four games. I see her making at least 3 here.
Courtney Williams O 4.5 Rebounds: The Lynx guard is an excellent all-around player. She has grabbed 4.9 RPG this season. Williams has clasped 5 or more in four of the last six games. I see a similar trajectory.
Main pick: Rhyne Howard O 2.5 3-Pointers for +115 at BetMGM
The Dream has been in wonderful touch, but the Lynx are a behemoth. Dream’s problems can compound if Collier returns. They can be heavily outmatched in the frontcourt.
Minnesota has yet to lose two in a row, so they will enter as at least slim favorites here. Overall, I see Minnesota cooking something special from deep and covering the spread.
Spread/Money Line Pick: Lynx -2.5 for -110 at BetMGM
