Aston Villa vs Paris Saint-Germain Champions League – Injury News, Match Preview and Predicted Line-Ups

Abhinav Goel

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue and Nuno Mendes scored in the 1st leg as PSG recorded a 3-1 win in Paris.

Aston Villa have a herculean task ahead of them at Villa Park on Tuesday night as they look to overturn a 3-1 deficit against Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final. While the Ligue 1 champions carry a strong advantage into the clash, Unai Emery knows all too well that PSG have a history of collapsing under pressure in second legs and Villa will be hoping to write a special chapter of their own on home soil.

Morgan Rogers gave Aston Villa the lead in the first leg with a simple finish at the back post. However, stunning goals from Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia turned the game around. PSG then sealed their 3-1 win with a final blow in stoppage time, as Nuno Mendes scored in the 92nd minute.

In their last outing, Aston Villa cruised to a confidence-boosting 3-0 victory over Southampton with Ollie Watkins, John McGinn, and Donyell Malen all getting on the scoresheet. Meanwhile, PSG will come into the second leg fresh and well-rested, having benefited from a weekend off.

Aston Villa Injury News

Aston Villa will be without Donyell Malen and Andres Garcia, who remain ineligible for the Champions League clash. Leon Bailey is the only injury concern for Unai Emery heading into the second leg.

Ollie Watkins, who came off the bench to score and win a penalty in the previous match is expected to return to the starting lineup. Meanwhile, Marco Asensio may once again have to settle for a spot on the bench as he faces his parent club. Notably, Marco Asensio endured a frustrating outing in the match against Southampton seeing two of his penalties saved by Aaron Ramsdale.
