Roma Make £20m Move for Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho

Roma have launched a £20m bid to sign Jadon Sancho from Manchester United, as the winger continues to train away from the first-team. The 25-year-old has been instructed to find a new club before the 1 September transfer deadline, with United eager to move him on.

Sancho, who joined the Red Devils for £73m from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, is also attracting interest from Juventus, who can offer Champions League football this season. Roma, meanwhile, are open to either a permanent deal or a loan arrangement, though the latter is complicated by the fact his contract runs out next summer. United retain an option to extend his stay by a further year, but his high wages make that scenario uncertain.

Loan or Permanent? United’s Dilemma for Sancho

The situation is further clouded by United’s stance. While the club is determined to secure a permanent transfer, time is running out to finalise a sale. If a deal is not struck soon, they may be forced to consider a loan move to relieve part of his salary burden. Roma are believed to be exploring creative clauses that could trigger a purchase at the end of the season, but negotiations remain delicate.

Sancho’s return to Old Trafford this summer followed a brief and turbulent spell at Chelsea, who paid a £5m penalty to cancel their obligation to sign him after a loan spell last season. Since the start of pre-season, he has been among four players—alongside Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Tyrrell Malacia—training separately from manager Ruben Amorim’s main squad as they await exits.

For Roma, landing Sancho could add flair and pace to their attack as they aim for a strong domestic and European campaign.
