Arsenal vs Paris St. Germain Preview

While Arsenal defeated reigning champions Real Madrid in the last round, PSG had to overcome Liverpool and Aston Villa in the Round of 16 and the quarter-final stages, respectively, to set up another interesting tie against another English opposition.

Arsenal

Mikel Arteta’s men put up a spirited fight against Liverpool for the 2024-25 Premier League title, but the Gunners’ efforts went in vain as the Reds wrapped up the title race with four matches to go. After derailing Real Madrid 5-1, the London-based club still has a chance to win a trophy this season if they overcome Paris St. Germain and the eventual finalists in the ongoing Champions League season.

In aiding their cause for the title, several players won’t be taking part in Arsenal’s first Champions League semi-final in 16 years, as Gabriel, Gabriel Jesus, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Kai Havertz continue to be on the sidelines. Jorginho has been ruled out of the season with a chest injury, while Thomas Partey is suspended for the first leg of the semi-final after picking up a needless yellow card in Madrid, leaving the Gunners short in midfield.

Predicted Starting XI: Martinez; Timber, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly; Rice, Zinchenko, Odegaard; Saka, Merino, Trossard

Paris St. Germain

After winning the Ligue 1 title rather early, PSG head coach Luis Enrique has been focusing on winning the elusive Champions League trophy for the club while the Paris-based club will also be competing for the Coupe de France on May 24 as the treble dream lives on in the hearts of the PSG fans. After overcoming Premier League champions Liverpool and the high-flying Aston Villa in the last two rounds, Enrique will now have to ask his players to defeat the Gunners over the course of 180 minutes.

Le Parisiens boast a clean bill of health as Enrique heads into the semi-final with multiple options to choose from in attack, keeping a healthy sense of competition for the places in the starting XI alive amongst the squad members.

Predicted Starting XI: Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Neves, Vitinha, Ruiz; Doue, Dembele, Barcola

Arsenal vs Paris St. Germain Under/Over Predictions

The Playoffs aim to facilitate the safest bets for the game. Have a look at the predictions for the game below.

Total goals Over 2.5 @ -112 (MGM Bet): Both Arsenal and PSG scored 5 goals over the two legs in the quarter-final, and while Arsenal’s defense conceded way fewer goals, William Saliba & co. will certainly be tested by the genius of Ousamane Dembele, who has rediscovered himself in an entirely new role in the PSG forward line.

Arsenal vs Paris St. Germain Player Picks

Ousmane Dembele (To Score a Goal @ +210 as per MGM Bet): The former Barcelona forward took a big decision when he left Catalonia for his home country but the Frenchman has rediscovered himself at PSG as Enrique often deploys him as a ‘False 9’ who is all over the pitch aiding his side in every cause. But PSG’s biggest cause against a tight defense would be to find the back of the net, and Dembele would be looking to add to his tally of 32 goals in the 2024-25 season on Tuesday evening.

Arsenal vs Paris St. Germain Prediction

The first leg could be a tight affair as the semi-final fixtures usually explode in the second legs but Arteta would be mindful of the fact that he would want an advantage going into the Paris leg.

Our Final Prediction: A 1-1 draw is the most likely outcome from the battle of two of the top sides in Europe as the brilliant minds of Arteta and Enrique will be tested to the core for 180 minutes of action spread between London and Paris.
