Arsenal might have shut the door to the bare hopes of the Premier League after dropping points to Brentford on Saturday. The Gunners went going forward with Thomas Partey’s counter-attacking goal at the hour mark. However, the lead didn’t last more than 15 minutes as Yoane Wissa put Brentford level.

‘He Could’ve Broken My Leg’ – Gabriel Martinelli

Brentford captain Christian Nørgaard brought Gabriel Martinelli down in an ugly fashion in the second half. Arteta was seen very animated around the fourth official insisting on a red card. On being asked what he thought about it, Arteta in his post-game interview told Sky Sports: “My reaction says everything.”

Martinelli who escaped the challenge without an injury reflected on the incident as he said:

“I didn’t see that again but in the moment if my foot was on the floor he could break my leg. He [Norgaard] said he didn’t mean it. I believe him but still, he could have broken my leg. For me it was red. I need to see it again to be sure. But for me it was nasty.”

Taking further in his interview, Arteta addressed his analysis on dropping points in the previous two games, the Spanish manager added:

“The main positive is that they didn’t create anything. They still scored a goal from an action, again that was disappointing to see. That’s why we lost four points in the last two games, with that kind of goals conceded. If we want to be challenging and be in a position to win the Premier League, it’s not enough.”

Arsenal now trails to Liverpool by 10 points after a disappointing home result. With a game more played and Liverpool playing West Ham United tomorrow, the Reds are clinching closer to the title. Arne Slot and his side will require three more wins to lift the Premier League trophy.

Arsenal ended up with a tied score for the fifth time at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League this season.
