Maiden career meeting between the two baseline specialists.
Reigning US Open runner-up Amanda Anisimova will battle Kazakh powerhouse Elena Rybakina in the group stage of the WTA Finals 2025 in Riyadh. When two hurricane baseliners stand across the net, there will be nothing short of a slugfest. With Iga Swiatek and Madison Keys also waiting in the same group, an opening victory will be like gold dust for both women. Today, we look to preview this contest for you. Later, we will take the help of BetMGM to delve into the betting odds.
In February, Amanda Anisimova made it very clear that she is among the best players in the world upon winning the Qatar Open. The 24-year-old also reached the semifinal in Charleston, before earning a runner-up finish at the HSBC Championships. After overcoming consecutive heartbreaks in the finals of Wimbledon and the US Open, Anisimova stood tall by capturing the China Open championship. Currently ranked No. 4 in the world, she has a 45-16 record in 2025.

Former Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina has reached the quarterfinals or better at her last three events. This includes an impressive title charge at Ningbo, and a semifinal finish in Tokyo. Prior to this, the 26-year-old reached two semifinals in the Middle East, before winning the Internationaux de Strasbourg in May. She also completed three consecutive final four outings leading up to Flushing Meadows – at Washington, Montreal and Cincinnati. The World No. 6 has won 82% service games this year.

The head-to-head record between Amanda Anisimova and Elena Rybakina is 0-0. They will face each other for the first time on Saturday.
| Amanda Anisimova | Category | Elena Rybakina |
| 4 | Current Ranking | 6 |
| 206-114 | Career W-L Record | 384-162 |
| 45-16 | YTD W-L Record | 53-19 |
| 4 | Career Titles | 10 |
| 2 | YTD Titles | 2 |
| 0 | Grand Slams | 1 |
Both players have improved their court coverage significantly over the season. For Rybakina, striking the ball just as fearlessly on the run used to bring about her downfall. However, the Kazakh has found a way to maintain her balance and regain lost ground mid-rally. On the other hand, Anisimova arguably has the best backhand in women’s tennis at the moment. While the winner count is definitely going to soar in this opening match-up, we believe Anisimova has the edge in terms of mentality.
Prediction: Amanda Anisimova in three sets.
