Alexander Zverev vs. Matteo Arnaldi Head-to-Head, Preview, Prediction, and Betting Odds for ATP Vienna Open 2025 Round of 16

Zverev aims to assert dominance as Arnaldi looks to cause an upset in Vienna

Second seed Alexander Zverev will meet qualifier Matteo Arnaldi in the second round of the Vienna Open 2025. Arnaldi advanced after a straight-sets win over fellow qualifier Aleksander Kovacevic, while Zverev battled through a gritty three-set opener against Jacob Fearnley, clinching it in a tense tiebreaker.

Zverev’s 2025 season has been strong but streaky. The German lifted his 24th career title in Munich, defeating Ben Shelton, and later reached finals in Stuttgart and Melbourne, falling to Taylor Fritz and eventual Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner, respectively. Along the way, he’s stacked up semifinal runs in Halle, Toronto, and Cincinnati, as well as quarterfinal finishes in Rio, Argentina, Rome, Roland Garros, and Beijing. His serve has been a major weapon this season, firing 508 aces, winning 74% of first-serve points, and converting 41% of 480 break-point opportunities. Still, a recent second-round exit in Shanghai showed the inconsistency that has shadowed his otherwise high-caliber year.

Arnaldi, meanwhile, continues to show flashes of potential in his developing career. Turning pro in 2019, the Italian is yet to lift a main-draw title but has enjoyed solid deep runs, including a semifinal in Dallas and quarterfinal finishes in Delray Beach, Madrid, and Geneva. His modest season was also interrupted due to an ankle injury, as a result of which he withdrew from London and Eastbourne. Though he remains competitive against higher-ranked opponents. Statistically, he’s produced 271 aces, a 72% first-serve win rate, 28% return points won, and a 35% break-point conversion from 278 opportunities.

Alexander Zverev vs. Matteo Arnaldi Head-to-Head Record

Alexander Zverev vs. Matteo Arnaldi Prediction

Matteo Arnaldi could test Zverev’s rhythm early with his fearless shot-making, but the German’s experience and ability to handle pressure should see him prevail in straight sets.

My journey into sports media began far from the field, rooted in the arts and sciences. Funny enough, I didn’t grow up a sports fan; I used to see it all as just noise. But a fateful writing job introduced me to the world of sports, and what began as a gig quickly became a passion. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
