Alexander Zverev vs. Brandon Nakashima Head-to-Head, Prediction and Betting Odds for ATP Cincinnati Open 2025 Round-3

Sankalp Harikrishnan

Winner to face Khachanov or Brooksby in Round-3.

After taking out an American in his opening match, World No. 3 Alexander Zverev must repeat his heroics against Brandon Nakashima of USA in the 2025 Cincinnati Open Round of 32. Provided the German can come through, he could book a rematch of the Tokyo Olympics final against Karen Khachanov. Continue reading to know more about the match preview and statistics. Later, BetMGM will help us break down the pre-match betting odds for this Cincinnati thriller.

Alexander Zverev was inches away from reaching the final in Toronto last week. He lost to Khachanov, who could be his opponent in the Round of 16 in Cincinnati. The 28-year-old has won just one trophy in 2025 – at the BMW Open in Munich. A former US Open runner-up, Zverev will be hoping that his week-long stint with the Nadal family helps him lift the crown in New York. The German has gone 13-5 on this surface, which includes a break point conversion rate of just under 80% so far.

One of the many American names to keep an eye on, 24-year-old Brandon Nakashima is enjoying a successful campaign. Although he has not made any championship runs this year, his 25-20 record will leave him hungry for more. Ranked No. 31 in the world, Nakashima has reached four quarterfinals and two semifinals in 2025. On hard courts, the American wins over 80% service games. He defeated Blockx of Belgium in a three set thriller to reach this stage.

Alexander Zverev vs Brandon Nakashima Head to Head Record

The head-to-head record between Zverev and Nakashima is 4-0 in favour of the higher ranked German. Their most recent encounter was at the 2025 Boss Open in Stuttgart.

This German-American rivalry began brewing in the Covid-hit US Open 2020, where Zverev went on to reach the summit clash. Up until the Stuttgart quarterfinal earlier this year, the pair had only contested Grand Slam battles. The Cincinnati Round-3 will be their first meeting at the Masters-1000 level, and third on American soil.

Alexander Zverev vs Brandon Nakashima ATP Cincinnati Open 2025 Prediction

While Nakashima generally does well in his home conditions, he could struggle against the Zverev first serve. The German went for his shots against Basavareddy, and knows these courts really well. A former champion at this event from 2021, Zverev is likely to adopt a slightly deeper position before advancing forward. While it is definitely possible for the American to challenge his higher ranked opponent, it is unlikely that he will produce the level needed when it matters most.

Prediction: Alexander Zverev in straight sets.
