The 24-year-old Frenchman stunned top seed Andrey Rublev and then outlasted Corentin Moutet in a gripping semifinal to reach his first ATP final. Long a staple on the Challenger circuit, he lifted trophies in Rwanda and Sibiu while making finals in Zadar and Bratislava. Grand Slam breakthroughs have followed, with three main draws this season (excluding Melbourne), and Hangzhou marks his deepest run at the tour level. Statistically, Royer has posted 71 aces with 71% first-serve points won, pairing consistency with a fearless shot selection that has carried him this far.
