Popyrin’s season has been far more inconsistent, often ending in early exits. Yet when in form, the Aussie has flashed brilliance, propelling himself to a career-high world ranking of No. 19 in August. Currently ranked No. 48, Popyrin’s highlights include quarterfinal runs in Monte Carlo, Geneva, and Toronto, taking down players such as Casper Ruud, Holger Rune, and Daniil Medvedev along the way.

He also reached a career-best fourth round at Roland Garros. Inconsistency, however, has been his biggest hurdle. Most recently suffering a first-round exit in Vienna against Matteo Berrettini in straight sets.
