AC Milan sustained a shocking 0-1 defeat to Bologna in the Coppa Italia Final on Wednesday. Conceding early in the second half, Sergio Conceicao’s side failed to make a comeback or score, for that matter.

Things have gone from bad to worse for the Italian side, given their struggles in Serie A as well. Following this setback, manager Conceicao is reported to leave AC Milan at the end of the season. With a Trophyless season in front, the Milan side has also struggled to compete in Serie A as they currently stand eighth on the table.

Fabrizio Romano: Sérgio Conceição to Depart AC Milan After Coppa Italia Loss to Bologna

AC Milan has lost 10 games of their 36 games in the Serie A 2024/25 campaign as of May 2025. Compared to their seven defeats in the previous campaign, Conceicao has failed to pick up the crucial points required for the European stages.

The Rossoneri will have two games to go as they trail by three points to sixth-placed Roma. With the team’s participation in the elite competition stumbling, AC Milan might also see some of their players bid farewell to the club.

João Felix Is Said To Return To Chelsea

Following a disappointing season, João Felix is being talked about as having a quick exit to AC Milan in reports. He is reported to return to Chelsea at the end of the season. Starting six games since his arrival in January, the Portuguese is yet to score in Serie A in 11 appearances.

In the other schemes of transfers in Milan, Manchester City is set to submit a formal bid for Tijjani Reijnders to AC Milan in the coming weeks. The Dutchman has impressed Pep Guardiola and could be headed to Etihad as the Cityzens try to regroup.

AC Milan will be out of the Champions League for the first time since the 2019/20 season, given their downfall this year. Conceicao has been in talks of an exit since taking over in December 2024 has failed to turn things around. Failing to win 14 of the games from 29 games, the Portuguese manager will part ways this summer.
