Cameron Brink Gets Honest on Recovery from ACL Tear as she Makes 2025 Debut

Cameron Brink returned to court after more than a year of injury-related absence.

Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink got real about her recovery from the ACL tear before she made her 2025 WNBA debut. Brink played her first game in 13 months as the Sparks clashed against the Las Vegas Aces at home on Tuesday, July 29. Brink, who was drafted with the second overall pick in 2024, played only 15 games in her rookie season. While she had already displayed her gaming prowess, Brink couldn’t get much time on the court as she suffered an ACL injury in the game against the Connecticut Sun.

Brink spent much of her time adding muscle and returned to the on-court drills in the summer. However, she was cleared to play her first game of the season, and as she stepped onto the court, Brink acknowledged that it had been a long road back to the court. The sophomore forward opened up on her training sessions and credited her coaching staff for helping up step back on the court.

In a video shared by Brink’s shoe partner, New Balance, she could be heard saying, “It was a great training session with Curtis (her trainer), the man. We were working on post moves, footwork, just getting comfortable with my knee. We worked on touch, everything, and tomorrow we’ll do more strengthening. But I’m just very thankful he’s on the trip with me, because getting in good work like this is really important after surgery.”

Cameron Brink Scores First Basket Since 2024 Injury

The night saw Brink hit her first basket since the 2024 injury. The occasion became more special as she was playing in front of her home crowd. Brink returned to the court during the Sparks’ clash against the Aces at Crypto.com Arena and recorded her first three-pointer to mark her first WNBA points in more than a year.

She came off the bench when 2:39 minutes were remaining in the first quarter and the Sparks were trailing the Aces 26-9. She didn’t take much time and quickly grabbed an offensive rebound helping Rickea Jackson for a jumper. Later, she dropped a three-pointer and was 1-for-3 while playing for eight minutes in the first half. Brink had two rebounds, one assist, one steal, and a turnover as the Sparks entered halftime trailing 48-34.

She played for 14 minutes and finished the game with five points, three rebounds, and one assist. The Sparks slumped to the Aces 89-74, and the defeat pushed their tally to 11-15.
