NBA insider Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald dropped the latest update on the potential trade of the Miami Heat’s Andrew Wiggins. The rumors that the Los Angeles Lakers trying to acquire the Heat wing have been doing rounds on the internet. Wiggins would also have been a nice pick for the Lakers. Notably, the Lakers have been quite active in the offseason. They signed young forward Jake LaRavia and Deandre Ayton, who are expected to make an impact for them in the 2025-26 season.

Their icon LeBron James picked his $52.6 million player option for the next season and has been surrounded by several trade rumors. However, reports suggest that he could still play out the final year of his contract with Los Angeles before leaving next offseason. Amidst all these developments, Chiang of the Miami Herald dropped the latest update on Wiggins’ trade and made it clear that the Heat are most likely to retain Wiggins.

The Heat wants to see what this mix will look like.”

Los Angeles Lakers Insider Jovan Buha Shares Update on Andrew Wiggins’ Trade

Los Angeles Lakers’ insider Jovan Buha also shared an update about the trade of Andrew Wiggins from the Heat. He stated that the trade at this moment doesn’t look too optimistic for Luka Doncic and Co. Buha stated, “I don’t know if Wiggins at this point is looking realistic (for the Lakers).” Notably, Wiggins entered the 2024-25 season as the Golden State Warriors’ second-leading scorer.

However, he was traded to the Miami Heat in exchange for Jimmy Butler a day before February trade deadline. With the Miami-based franchise, the 30-year-old played a total of 17 games and posted an average of 19.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists. He was shooting 45.8% from the field and 36.0% from the three-point range.
