A’ja Wilson Injury Update: Las Vegas Aces Star Undergoes MRI After Injury During Liberty Clash

Wilson sustained a shoulder injury during clash against the New York Liberty on Tuesday.

Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson underwent an MRI examination after sustaining a hard fall during the clash against the New York Liberty. During the Tuesday match up against the reigning champions, Liberty, Wilson was fouled by Leonie Fiebich while moving towards the basket. Aces were trailing 33–30 back then while there were still 4:13 minutes remaining in the second quarter. The 28-year-old tipped up on the play and landed awkwardly on her left shoulder while using her wrists to balance.

She stayed on the court for a moment in visible pain, and got up after a few moments to make free throws. However, she was later subbed out of the game with 2:22 minutes remaining in the first half. Wilson returned to the bench in the third quarter with a brace on her right wrist. It was later shared by the Aces head coach Becky Hammon that the three-time WNBA MVP would undergo an MRI examination.

When Will A’ja Wilson Return?

Following the injury, Wilson updated on Threads, and wrote, “We are gonna be alright!” but didn’t clarify how much time it would take her to be back on court. On the other hand, Aces head coach Hammon said that the team didn’t want to take any risks with Wilson. She said, “Big picture, our season is bigger than just this one game so we want to make sure she’s not putting herself at any risk of injuring anything or damaging anything.”

The MRI results remain unknown, but according to ESPN’s Kendra Andrews, the two-time WNBA Champion has been listed as ‘questionable’ for the Thursday-night clash against the Washington Mystics. Notably, Wilson has been averaging 20.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game in 16 games this season.
