Phoenix Suns Lean Toward Bradley Beal Buyout Amid Failed Talks With Bucks, Heat

The Phoenix Suns are moving aggressively to reshape their roster following Kevin Durant’s departure, and Beal may be the next name on the chopping block. The front office is desperate to get Bradley Beal out of the books to restructure their salary cap management.

Phoenix is currently holding trade discussions with multiple teams in hopes of moving Bradley Beal off their roster. According to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer, the Milwaukee Bucks are interested in adding the shooting guard. But it would only be in free agency.

It’s no secret that no NBA team is willing to take on Beal’s massive $251 million contract, which runs through the 2026–27 season. The 32-year-old is earning a base annual salary of $50.2 million. The Bucks have plenty of positions to fill-in in order to strengthen their roster.

The Bucks, led by Giannis Antetokounmpo, recently signed Miles Turner in free agency following Damian Lillard’s departure from the roster. They are looking to support Giannis on the court and Bradley Beal is being looked upon as a possible option. He averaged 17.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists last season.

Buyout Talks Become Suns’ Best Bet

The Suns also engaged in talks with the Miami Heat, who are still interested in acquiring the veteran shooting guard. According to Marc Stein that there were discussions revolving around a possible deal with the Heat earlier this week.

However, those didn’t go any further and collapsed. While no official reason was cited, the talks reportedly fell through due to Beal’s unmanageable contract size and long-term commitment. Suns are looking for a way to offload the contract but given current circumstances, there remains no buyer.

With no trade partner in sight, the Suns’ front office is now shifting its focus to negotiating a buyout with Beal’s agent to clear salary cap space. However, it remains to be seen how much the 32-year-old will budge.

Regardless of the outcome, the Suns are staring at a costly resolution, either paying Beal to leave or continuing to carry his massive cap hit.
