Williams suffered the injury shortly before the start of the postseason, during a 125–112 victory over the Phoenix Suns on April 9. He still managed to contribute actively in the campaign that ended with the Thunder winning their first NBA title .
The 24-year-old averaged 21.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists throughout the first round. In the playoffs, he averaged 21.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists in the 23 games OKC played before finally lifting the Larry O’Brien trophy.
Sam Presti: "In our modern era, when someone has a poor performance … you often see little birdy making sure everybody knows that the player is not 100%. Never happened with this guy (Jalen Williams). Not one time." pic.twitter.com/g511iDxSpD

”J-Dub”s physical problem was only revealed after the team beat the Indiana Pacers in the NBA Finals. Presti, who was responsible for bringing the news to light, praised his athlete’s determination.”
“I really thought it was very impressive how he just kept going without making excuses and obviously played his best basketball down the stretch of the season,” the executive said.
With the recovery period for its No. 8 set, OKC will be able to begin preparing for the back-to-back next year. It is worth remembering that the franchise can and should extend Jalen Williams’ contract this offseason. Otherwise, he will enter the 2025-26 season with just one year left on his contract, worth $6.5 million.
