Joao Fonseca vs. Jenson Brooksby Preview, Prediction, and Betting Odds for Wimbledon 2025 Second Round

Rudra Dubey

Clash of Rising Talents as Fonseca Meets Brooksby in Wimbledon Round Two

Joao Fonseca is set to take on protected ranking entrant Jenson Brooksby in a compelling second-round matchup at Wimbledon. The Brazilian eased past Jacob Fearnley in straight sets, wrapping things up with a tiebreak in the third.

Brooksby, meanwhile, pulled off an impressive upset over 31st seed Tallon Griekspoor, also in straight sets. With both players owning a main-draw title this season, their contrasting styles make for an intriguing showdown on grass.

Joao Fonseca vs. Jenson Brooksby Preview

Fonseca’s season has been a curious mix of inconsistency and success. Despite three title wins, including Challenger crowns in Canberra and Phoenix and an impressive ATP title in Argentina, he’s struggled for momentum elsewhere, failing to progress beyond the third round in most events.

Statistically, the Brazilian has fired 132 aces, winning 72% of first-serve points, 30% on first-serve returns, and converting 33% of his 183 break point chances.

Brooksby, meanwhile, is steadily rebuilding his career after a 13-month doping suspension and wrist injury. The American has shown flashes of his potential, capturing his first ATP title in Houston and reaching the second round at Roland Garros, his best result there. Most recently, he made a deep run to the Eastbourne final before falling to Taylor Fritz in straight sets.

He has fired 42 aces so far, with a 67% first-serve win rate, 31% return success on first serves, and a 42% break point conversion rate.

Joao Fonseca vs. Jenson Brooksby Prediction

Fonseca’s mix of raw talent and big-match wins makes him the favorite here, but Brooksby’s recent resurgence, highlighted by a title in Houston and a final in Eastbourne, can’t be overlooked. However, if Fonseca brings his A-game, he should edge this.
