Philadelphia 76ers’ ‘cent’ performances lead to dollar deals on tickets

The 76ers are languishing second from the bottom in standings with a 5-15 record.

The Philadelphia 76ers kicked off the 2024-25 season with big dreams. After signing Paul George from the Los Angeles Clippers, fans thought they were about to witness the birth of a new Big Three – George, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey. Everyone was buzzing, and for a second, it seemed like the Sixers might actually make a run for it this season.

Fast forward to December, and it seems they are running in the opposite direction. The supposedly ‘Big Three’ has played together for a grand total of six minutes.

Paul George, who was supposed to be the game-changer, has released more podcast episodes (16, to be exact) than actually playing for the 76ers this season (10 games).

Meanwhile, Joel Embiid, who has played just 4 games this season, hasn’t exactly been the game-changer the 76ers were hoping for. The team is 0-4 with him on the court and 5-11 without him.

Tyrese Maxey, on the other hand, is channeling his inner Shameless Fiona Gallagher, doing his best to keep the sinking ship afloat. He has been trying to carry the entire team on his shoulders, but the responsibility has started to weigh him down.

With the Sixers sitting at 5-15, it’s no surprise that their ticket prices are sinking faster than their playoff chances.

Philadelphia 76ers slash ticket prices to fill seats

Wednesday’s game against the Magic saw tickets going for as low as $2. For less than the cost of a soda at the arena, you could watch a team that is hitting a new low with each game. And guess what? They hit a new low.. AGAIN.

The Philly side went down 106-102 against the Magic. Tyrese Maxey had a tough night, missing all seven of his three-point attempts. The only bright spot in an otherwise dull performance was rookie Jared McCain, who scored 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting.

As the Sixers get ready to face the Magic again on Friday, the prices are currently sitting at $5. However, it wouldn’t be a big shocker if it goes down to as low as a dollar a day before the game.

As the Sixers stumble from one disaster to the next, it’s clear that this season is more about bargain-bin ticket prices than championship dreams. So, if you’re in Philly and need something to do on Friday, hey, why not grab a $5 ticket and enjoy the show? At least it will be cheap entertainment!
