Sebastian Korda Injury Update – Sebastian Korda withdraws from Wimbledon due to Shin Stress Fracture

Former Australian Open quarter-finalist, Sebastian Korda has been ruled out of the Wimbledon 2025 with a leg injury. The American ace is going to miss the rest of the grass-court season. Korda made an announcement on Tuesday and decided to withdraw from season’s third Grand Slam event considering the severity of the injury.

Sebastian Korda sustained a leg injury during her recent matchup in the Roland Garros against Frances Tiafoe. The 24-year-old tennis star completed his French Open match despite losing in straight sets. He shared his thought on his injury after the Roland Garros elimination. He didn’t take part in any grass-court event and started the recovery process.

Sebastian Korda to Wait for Another Year to Fulfil His Wimbledon Destiny

Sebastian Korda, 24, announced on his social media account that he has a stress fracture in his right shin and is currently using crutches and a boot. It means, he will miss the entire grass-court season. Korda’s availability is in the US Open is also in jeopardy.

“Unfortunately no Wimbledon for me this year,” Korda wrote on Instagram. “Stress fracture in my shin during the clay. Been a tough 12 months, but better days ahead.”

Korda made his debut at Wimbledon in 2021 and reached the fourth round where he lost to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in a five-set thriller. In 2023, he considered himself as the top contender to lift the title. “I’m very confident in myself on a grass court, the US star said ahead of the 2023 Wimbledon. “I move really well, I definitely have a game that not very many people have. I’m an aggressive player, like to come to the net, I have good hands. I definitely feel as if I’m one of the favourites at Wimbledon.”

Meanwhile, Korda failed to go longer in the 2023 Wimbledon and faced a first-round exit against Jiri Vesely. In 2024, the American ace lost to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in opening round. He is currently No. 26 in the ATP rankings and a two-time winner on the ATP Tour. This year’s Wimbledon will start from June 30 and we may expect a cracking contest between Alcaraz and Sinner, who are the hot favorite to win the trophy.
