Myles Garrett Breaks Browns Franchise Record While Eyeing the NFL Record Following Sunday’s 3-Sack Performance against the Raiders!

Sunday’s game for the Cleveland Browns could not have gone any better. Facing the lowly Las Vegas Raiders in his first career start in the NFL, quarterback Shedeur Sanders threw his first touchdown in the professional league, while Myles Garrett dominated on the defensive side of the ball with 3 sacks.

Myles Garrett Sets New Browns Franchise Sack Record

In the Week 12 game against the Raiders, Browns’ defensive end Myles Garrett broke his own career-best sack record for a single season. Previously, Garrett’s career-best had been 16 sacks, which he achieved in 2021 and again in 2022. Incidentally, that was also the Browns’ franchise record.

In yesterday’s game against the Raiders, Garrett’s first sack, which came late in the second quarter, gave him 16 on the season. However, in the fourth quarter, Garrett got his second sack of the game, giving him 17 for the season, a career-best as well as a Browns’ franchise best.

Even then, the 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year was not done. With just a little over 2 minutes left in the game, Garrett would pounce again for his third sack of the day, taking his tally to 18 from just 11 games this season.

Garrett Chasing the NFL Single-Season Sack Record

With the Browns currently 3-8 on the season, there is not much to look forward to in the remaining games for the fans. Having said that, keeping a close eye on their upcoming games will be of utmost importance for Myles Garrett and his performances.

After his three-sack performance yesterday, Garrett is currently on 18 sacks from just 11 games. The current NFL record for the most sacks in a single season belongs to former New York Giants legend Michael Strahan and Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt, who each had 22.5 sacks in one season.

Strahan was the first to reach the 22.5-sack mark when he did so back in 2001, when the league played only 16 games. Twenty years later, in 2021, T.J. Watt joined him at 22.5 sacks, but he played in only 15 games that season.

Now, with 6 games in the 2025-26 NFL season still left, Myles Garrett has an excellent chance of setting the new NFL single-season sack record, requiring just 5 more sacks to achieve it.

So far this season, Garrett has 4 games in which he has 2 or more sacks. In the Week 8 game against the Patriots, Garrett recorded as many as 5 sacks, and followed that up with 4 sacks in the Week 11 game against the Ravens.

The way this season has been going for the Browns’ superstar defender, there is very little doubt that he will be able to break the current NFL sacks record for a single season in the upcoming few weeks. What will be interesting to see is how many he finishes with at the end of the regular season.
