| Jalen Brunson O 27.5 points | -128 | – |
Jalen Brunson returned to the lineup after a two-game absence due to an ankle injury as the Knicks locked horns against the Mavericks. In his first game after returning, Brunson dropped 28 points while shooting 11-of-23 from the field and 2-7 from the three-point range. In fact, he has been leading the Knicks in scoring with an average of 28.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game while shooting 46.8% from the field and 36.3% from beyond the arc.
In his last two games before injury, Brunson recorded back-to-back 30+ point performances.
Considering that the Magic have a better defensive rating as compared to the Knicks, the two-time All-Star could face challenges. But given his form, we can expect Brunson to finish over 28 points on Saturday.
The Orlando Magic, who kicked off the current season with a win, but soon slumped to four back-to-back losses, have been doing fairly well off late. They have lost only one of their last six games, and are currently 9-7, having occupied the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference standings. They are quite good in terms of defense, and have the seventh-best defensive rating of 111.7 in the league.
Paolo Banchero, who is the second-leading scorer of the team, has the worst shooting percentage. Now that he is out for quite some time, the Magic’s offense and ball movement has shown significant improvement. Apart from it, the team is clearly struggling with three-point shooting at 32%.
Now that Banchero remains out for the next game, Desmond Bane and Franz Wagner will be expected to shoulder the entire offensive load of the team.
On the other hand, we have the New York Knicks, currently seeded fourth in the East with a win-loss record of 9-5. The Knicks have been playing good basketball even though they missed Jalen Brunson for a couple of games. However, now that he has returned, we can expect Brunson to deliver another impressive performance just like how he did against the Mavericks. While the Knicks have a poor defensive rating as compared to the Magic, they hold a clear advantage over their rivals in terms of offense.
The Knicks hold an advantage over the hosts and are highly motivated from their previous defeat to them. Though it is going to be a closely-contested game, we can expect the Knicks to acquire a victory on Saturday.
