ATP Awards 2025 Reveal Nominees Across Sportsmanship, Breakthrough and Coaching Honors as December’s Ceremony Approaches

Nominees highlight rising talents, veteran champions and coaching excellence ahead of ATP Awards week.

Nominees for the 2025 ATP Awards have been revealed, covering major categories such as Breakthrough of the Year, the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award and Coach of the Year, ahead of an awards week beginning 8 December. With past winners and new contenders lined up, the event serves as both a reflection on the season and a platform for the next generation of the men’s tour.

Recognising Legacy, Leadership and Rising Stars

In one of the categories, Breakthrough of the Year, the nominees include Jack Draper, Joao Fonseca, Jakub Mensik and Valentin Vacherot. The criteria call for players who made significant jumps in the ATP Rankings, achieved milestone wins or claimed their first ATP Tour titles. While there is no strict age limit, the category is aimed at the Next Gen crowd.

The Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award, recognizing a player who competes with fairness, integrity and off-court respect, features past winners like Grigor Dimitrov (2024), Carlos Alcaraz (2023) and Casper Ruud (2022) as nominees again, alongside Felix Auger‑Aliassime.

Coach of the Year brings a strong field. Benjamin Balleret (coaching Vacherot), Darren Cahill & Simone Vagnozzi (coaching Jannik Sinner), Juan Carlos Ferrero & Samuel Lopez (coaching Alcaraz), Frederic Fontang (Auger-Aliassime) and Bryan Shelton (Ben Shelton). Nominees in this category are selected via first‐round voting by ATP coach members.

Meanwhile, winners in the other categories will be decided by members of the ATP No. 1 Club, the 29 players (current and past) who have reached world No. 1, for Breakthrough and Sportsmanship. Coach of the Year is voted on by fellow coaches. Fans still get a say with online voting, which remains open for the Fans’ Favourite singles player and doubles team until 21 November.

Putting this in historical context, 2024 winners included Michael Russell as Coach of the Year, after guiding Taylor Fritz to a career-high world No. 4. Dimitrov captured the 2024 Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award. These backdrops give the 2025 nominees even greater weight, underscoring both the prestige and continuity of the ATP Awards.
