Frustration Mounts in Cincinnati as Ja’Marr Chase and Chase Brown Call Out Bengals’ Defense Following Last Minute Loss to the Bears!

Despite putting up 42 points Bengals still lose and fall to 3-6 on the season!

For the Cincinnati Bengals, it’s been the same story over the past couple of seasons, and Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears once again proved how horrible their defense is. Over the past two seasons, the storyline has been the inefficiency of the Bengals’ defense to close out games.

Bengals Lose Thriller after Defense Blows Lead

Yesterday, we saw yet another version of the same plot as Cincinnati’s offense clawed the team back from a 27-41 hole to come from behind and take a 42-41 lead with less than a minute left in the game.

Quarterback Joe Flacco found wide receiver Andrei Iosivas in the endzone with just 54 seconds left in the game as the Bengals took the lead. All that was left to do was for the Bengals’ defense to hold the Bears and not allow them to get off a field goal with the score 42-41 in favor of Cincinnati.

With 35 seconds to go, Caleb Williams hit Colston Loveland on a 3rd and 10 pass play, and the rookie tight end bounced off defenders and made his way to the endzone for the winning score. This script has become all too familiar for the Bengals, and now the frustration levels have skyrocketed with Cincinnati’s offensive players calling out their defensive counterparts.

Ja’Marr Chase Post-Game Reaction

Following the game, the level of frustration of the offensive players on the Bengals team was evident, especially after hearing the reactions from WR1 Ja’Marr Chase and running back Chase Brown.

While speaking to the media from the locker room, the Bengals’ top wideout was asked what was going through his mind after the offense scored the second touchdown of the fourth quarter to take the lead. Chase kept it real simple with his response.

“The defense get a stop?”

Clearly not in the mood to engage in much of a conversation, Chase’s body language showed a sign of clear disappointment and resentment at the current Bengals’ situation. After a 2-0 start to their season, franchise quarterback Joe Burrow got injured, and since then, Cincy has fallen to a 3-6 record.

However, much of that failure has come due to the Bengals’ inability to restrict their opponents. Chase also mentioned that he was not looking to work up any of his defensive teammates for saying something to them as one of the leaders on the offensive side of the ball.

“I’m going to stay in my lane,” said Chase. “I don’t want no defensive player come and chew me out about what the … I’m doing.”

Ja’Marr Chase when asked if he will get on the defense for their play or stay in his lane:

“I’ma stay in my lane. I don’t want no defensive player (to) come and chew me out for what the f**k I’m doing.”

Chase Brown Calling on the Defense to ‘End the Game’

Running back Chase Brown seconded his teammates’ opinion and made his feelings clear over the last-minute loss that sent the team to a 3-6 record just ahead of their bye week in Week 10. He alluded to the fact that both the offense and defense need to play quality football at the same time so as to ensure they can win games.

“We just got to play complementary football,” said Brown. “Like we put the ball in the end zone and go up a point at the end, finish the game. Like, just end it. That’s it. That’s what we need to do. Just end the game. Make them get us the ball back. Let us go to 22 victory, and let’s end the game.”

Having lost 6 games already, the Cincinnati Bengals are in danger of missing the playoffs once again this season. With the Steelers playing quite well and the Ravens trending upwards again, the Bengals may be out of contention to win the AFC North, but if this continues, they say goodbye to their chances of making the postseason, even as a wild-card team.
