| Shai Gilgeous-Alexander O 32.5 Points | – | -108 |
| Zion Williamson O 19.5 points | – | -130 |
| Total U 228.5 Points | -110 | -110 |
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the reigning scoring champion, is the driving force behind the Thunder’s offense. In six games, he is averaging 34.2 points per game, while shooting 52.1% from the field and 27.8% from the three-point range. So far, he has had five 30+ point games, and considering that the Pelicans rank 29th in the league in terms of defensive rating at 107.1, dropping another similar performance wouldn’t be a big of a task for SGA.
Zion Williamson is averaging 23.5 points per game, while shooting 48.4% from the field and 71.1% from the free-throw line. In the Pelicans’ last game against the Clippers, the star forward dropped 29 points on 52.9% shooting. Though he would himself for a similar performance on Sunday, the elite OKC Thunder’s defense (1st at 104.1) would limit him to around 20 points.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are scoring 119.7 points per game this season, while the Pelicans have been having the lowest scoring games at 108.0 points per game. In the last five games, they have been restricted to under 100 points thrice. Similarly, the Thunder have had defense-oriented games so far in the season. Considering this, the upcoming game is likely to be restricted under 230 points total.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have had a blockbuster and historic campaign in the previous season, where they won their first NBA Championship after relocating to Paycom Center. Owing to their lengthy injury report, many were expecting them to have a slow start of the current season. However, the reigning champions are carrying the same energy, and are seemingly aiming to repeat their heroics. They are currently unbeaten in the season, and are coming off as a real threat to all their rivals.
On the other hand, the New Orleans Pelicans had the second-worst record in the Western Conference in the previous season. They finished with the third-fewest wins in the league and missed the playoffs by a wide margin. The Pelicans were hoping for a better campaign this season, a few poor offseason moves and strategies have kind of already ruined their dreams. However, this is just the beginning, and there is enough time for them to revamp their strategies and get on the track.
But as far as the upcoming game is concerned, the Pelicans don’t hold a chance against the Thunder, owing to their poor form as well as the on-court dominance of their rivals.
Predictions: Oklahoma City Thunder to win.
According to the odds from FanDuel, the reigning champions are highly likely to remain unbeaten on Sunday.
