Timberwolves Face Major Setback as Anthony Edwards Sidelined With Hamstring Strain in Crucial Season Stretch

Akash

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards will be sidelined for the next two weeks after suffering a right hamstring strain, according to Shams Charania. The injury occurred in the opening minutes of Sunday’s matchup against the Indiana Pacers, leaving the team without its leading scorer and three-time All-Star.

The setback was initially described as minor tightness, but the situation escalated after the Timberwolves’ 114-110 victory over the Pacers. Anthony Edwards, who had been preparing for a standout season, will now miss at least 14 days of action. The timing is especially difficult for Minnesota, as Edwards has been one of the most durable players in the league, appearing in 426 of 445 games since entering the NBA.

The injury unfolded just three minutes into the contest. Anthony Edwards showcased his trademark explosiveness before being fouled by a defender. He did not return to the court, and the Timberwolves quickly substituted Bones Hyland in his place.

The absence of the youngster was immediately felt, as he had already proven his scoring ability this season with a 41-point performance in the opener against the Portland Trail Blazers. However, his momentum slowed in a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he was limited to 31 points.

Anthony Edwards Injury Leaves Timberwolves Searching for Offensive Answers

For the Timberwolves, the loss of their star guard raises pressing questions about their offensive rhythm. Anthony Edwards has been the focal point of their attack, and his absence leaves a significant gap. Still, the roster features capable contributors such as Donte DiVincenzo, Jaden McDaniels, Julius Randle, and Rudy Gobert, who will be tasked with carrying the load in the coming games.

The Minnesota Timberwolves must find ways to stay afloat without their most dynamic scorer. His return will be eagerly awaited, but until then, the spotlight shifts to the supporting cast to keep Minnesota’s season on track.
