Valentin Vacherot’s Next Big Tournament After Winning ATP Shanghai Masters 2025 Revealed

Vacherot made his Top-40 debut after Shanghai.

Days after his monumental success at the 2025 ATP Shanghai Masters, Valentin Vacherot has confirmed his next event. The new World No. 40 became the first Monegasque player to win a tour-level singles title, and also became the lowest ranked Masters-1000 champion in the history of the game. With a career-high ranking achieved, the 26-year-old now sets his sights on another potential title charge.

Vacherot went to Shanghai as an alternate in the qualifying draw. During the course of the fortnight, he produced six comeback wins to complete one of the greatest championship runs in the Open Era. Some of Vacherot’s wins were against ATP veterans – Alexander Bublik, Holger Rune and Novak Djokovic. In the final, the former World No. 204 defeated his cousin brother Arthur Rinderknech 4-6 6-3 6-3 to become the King of Shanghai.

In winning his maiden trophy, Vacherot improved his 2025 tour-level record to 12-2. Prior to this, the 6’4” powerhouse mainly featured in the ATP Challenger Tour. He came into the ongoing season with a 4-0 record in Challenger finals. Yet, Vacherot will be remembered for his iconic run at the Shanghai Masters for years to come. But where is the Monegasque sensation going to play next?

Valentin Vacherot Accepts Wildcard to Play 2025 Swiss Indoors in Basel

After winning in Shanghai, Valentin Vacherot has accepted a wildcard to compete in the ATP-500 at Basel, Switzerland. The tournament will be played between 20-26 October, 2025. Considering the Monegasque star’s recent form and performances, every tournament will want to invite him to play. The World No. 40 is likely to gain direct entry into all the Grand Slams and Masters-1000s in 2026.

Merely a week after capturing his first title, Vacherot will look to keep the winning momentum at the 2025 ATP Swiss Indoors in Basel. He will join a stacked lineup – including Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, Holger Rune and Casper Ruud. Defending champion Giovanni Mpetshi-Perricard will also take part in the competition, but is likely to remain unseeded. Meanwhile, Stan Wawrinka is another player who has been handed a wildcard.

Can Valentin Vacherot keep up the good work and continue his rise in the ATP Rankings? Only time will tell.
