Is Brock Purdy Playing Today? All About 49ers QB Brock Purdy’s Availability for Week 4 Game Against the Jaguars

Eric Divakaran

The undefeated San Francisco 49ers (3-0) welcome the surging Jacksonville Jaguars (2-1) for an interconference Week 4 battle on Sunday. San Francisco has managed to stay afloat and survive so far, edging the Cardinals 16-15 on a last-second field goal, have highlighted their resilience amid a brutal injury toll. Some of the notable ones include Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle’s injuries, and of course the injury to their QB1 Brock Purdy, who missed last week’s action, with Mac Jones replacing him.

Despite the wounds, the 49ers’ defense has been commendable ranking 4th in total defense and they still have Christian McCaffrey, who is still trying to get to his previous form in 2023, but still manages to gain some essential yards for the 49ers. The key to all their wins thus far has obviously been their defense, but since they are wounded on the offensive end, the 49ers have struggled to score the ball in three weeks so far.

Meanwhile, the Jaguar, are thriving under new coach Liam Coen’s scheme, boasting a top-10 defense and offense (8th). Trevor Lawrence’s timely passes have masked an okay passing offense, but penalties have plagued this team, giving up way too many free yardages.

Is Brock Purdy Playing Today?

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said QB Brock Purdy will start vs the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to NFL. On the 49ers’ official injury report, Purdy has no injury status designation and is expected to start. He was a limited participant on Wednesday and Thursday’s practices, but was a full participant on Friday.

What Does Purdy’s Availability means for the 49ers?

Purdy has only played in one game so far, against the Seahawks, but managed to score 2 TDs, and throw for 277 passing yards, on 74.3 completion rate, along with 2 Interceptions. The 49ers need Purdy to make plays for them on the offensive end, as they’ve struggled to score the ball.

While the 49ers hold the edge going into this matchup, the Jaguars are quietly taking big steps and are a much bigger threat than they’ve ever been.

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
