Alex de Minaur vs. Yunchaokete Bu Head-to-Head, Preview, Prediction, and Betting Odds for ATP China Open 2025 Round – 1

Rudra Dubey

Third seed Alex de Minaur takes on wildcard Yunchaokete Bu in Beijing.

Third seed Alex de Minaur kicks off his China Open 2025 campaign against wildcard Yunchaokete Bu in the first round. The Australian arrives in strong form, fresh from helping Team World clinch victory at the Laver Cup, where he stunned both Alexander Zverev and Jakub Mensik.

Though his season has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows, highlighted by a resilient comeback win over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in Washington and deep runs at the Melbourne, US Open, Monte Carlo, Doha, Barcelona, and Toronto. He also reached the Rotterdam final, falling to Carlos Alcaraz, and set a career milestone by making the quarterfinals at every Grand Slam. Statistically, de Minaur remains formidable with 218 aces, 74% first-serve points won, 33% on return, and 45% break-point conversion on 456 opportunities.

Bu, who turned pro in 2022, is still finding his footing on the ATP Tour. The Chinese player has three Challenger titles to his name and made his Grand Slam debut last year. This season, he posted first-round appearances in Melbourne, the French Open, and Wimbledon; reached the Challenger Turin final (losing to Alexander Bublik); and made quarterfinals in Open Occitanie and Winston-Salem. Stat-wise, he has fired 236 aces, won 73% of first-serve points, 26% on return, and converted 33% of 231 break-point opportunities. While Bu has shown potential, consistency at the tour level remains a work in progress.

My journey into sports media began far from the field, rooted in the arts and sciences. Funny enough, I didn’t grow up a sports fan; I used to see it all as just noise. But a fateful writing job introduced me to the world of sports, and what began as a gig quickly became a passion. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
