Ruben Amorim has responded to mounting speculation over his future at Manchester United with a passionate declaration of loyalty. The Portuguese tactician insisted that he will continue to fight for his job and stressed that he wants to coach only Manchester United. However, the statistics make grim reading for the Red Devils.

Since Amorim’s appointment 10 months ago, United have earned only 31 points from 31 league games, the lowest return of any of the 17 sides to remain in the top flight during that period. After last weekend’s heavy 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, questions have grown around his suitability at United. The Portuguese has overseen the club’s worst Premier League start since 1992-93, collecting just four points from four games. However, Amorim has made it clear that he is not stepping away from the challenge at Old Trafford.

In an open message to fans, the 40-year-old said results may ultimately decide his fate, but the responsibility lies with the club’s hierarchy. “I understand that if I don’t win, people will say I should leave. But that’s not my responsibility, that’s up to the board. I’ll fight at my best to continue my dream,” Amorim stated.

The United boss also drew inspiration from Sir Alex Ferguson’s early struggles, noting how one game transformed the legendary manager’s career. “It happened with Alex Ferguson, one game changed history. So I just fight every day. The next game can be or will be the game that changes my history. That’s my job, how I see it,” he said.

Amorim admitted that the ultimate decision on his position is out of his hands, but he underlined his personal commitment to stay the course. “When the time comes, it’s not my decision. So I’m not worried about that. And I’ll be fine… But I’ll fight every day. Because this is my dream. This is the only club I want to coach. So I’ll fight until the end,” he added.
