Magic Johnson, Vanessa Bryant, Bam Adebayo Remember Kobe Bryant on 47th Birth Anniversary

Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe ‘Black Mamba’ Bryant would have celebrated his 47th birthday on August 23, 2025, if it weren’t for the ill-fated helicopter crash in January 2020. Bryant is one of the most legendary figures to have played in Purple and Gold. He spent all 20 years of his NBA career with the Lakers and played a key role in winning five championships. It’s been five years since Bryant lost his life; however, even after these many years, the basketball world paused once again to pay tribute to the 18-time NBA All-Star.

Several members of Bryant’ family, NBA stars including the likes of LeBron James and Magic Johnson paid their tributes to Bryant. Johnson, who shared a close bond with Bryant shared on X, “Remembering husband, girl dad, entrepreneur, friend, five-time champion, and one of the greatest to ever lace them up, Kobe Bryant on his birthday.”

His wife, Vanessa Bryant shared a candid photo with the late player and wrote, “We love and miss you and Gigi so much. Happy birthday, baby.”

Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo also paid tribute to Bryant by sharing an infinity symbol on X. The symbol represented Bryant’s ever-lasting legacy.

Kobe Bryant’s Move Under Development at Warner Bros

According to reports by The Hollywood Reporter, a film projected around Kobe Bryant is under development at Warner Bros. Currently, there is no information of any director associated with the project. As per reports, the story would pan from the point of view of John Nash, the General Manager of the New Jersey Nets as well as John Calipari, the incoming coach who wanted to sign Bryant. However, Bryant’s interest as well as Nets’ financial struggles landed him to the Lakers eventually.

More details of the project are still awaited, but there are a few rumors about the actors who would play the role of Black Mamba. The list of producers include Tim and Trevor White for Star Thrower Entertainment and Ryan Stowell for Religion of Sports. Talking about Bryant, he was a part of the legendary Lakers teams, which included Shaquille O’Neal and coach Phil Jackson.

In his career spanning over two decades, Bryant amassed a career average of 25.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game. He shot 44.7% from the field and 32.9% from the three-point range.
