The OKC Thunder have entered the NBA Finals 2025 by being the outright favourites to win it all. The Indiana Pacers remain underdogs despite some clutch killers recently. Both the sides are looking to end a massive trophy drought that has gripped them.

The OKC Thunder haven’t been among the league’s powerhouses historically, often falling short in their quest for championship contention. However, their recent surge has definitely put them in the conversation of NBA titles for the years to come.

Has OKC Thunder Ever Won an NBA Championship?

The OKC Thunder are the most recent franchise, having been relocated in 2008. They were originally known as the Seattle SuperSonics before their move. While the OKC Thunder are still chasing their first NBA title, their predecessor, the Seattle SuperSonics captured one championship during their era

They registered a historic 4-1 NBA Finals series win against the Washington Bullets in the 1978-79 season. Seattle SuperSonics also managed to avenge their previous seasons’ finals defeat against the same opponent. Since then it has been a title drought for the franchise.

What is Thunder’s Win-Loss Record in the NBA Finals?

The OKC Thunder have played just one final since the franchise’s relocation in 2008. The 2011-12 season was quite successful for the Thunder playing their first NBA Finals. However, they went on to lose the series by a dominant margin of 4-1 against the Miami Heat.

Their predecessor Seattle SuperSonics have been to three NBA Finals. Their first NBA Finals came in the 1977-78 season against the Washington Bullets, followed by a rematch with the same team the very next year. While their third finals appearance was against the Utah Jazz in the 1995-96 season.
