OKC Thunder has qualified to the NBA Western Conference Finals after eliminating the Denver Nuggets. After forcing a Game 7, OKC closed the series in dominant fashion. They won the Nuggets vs. Thunder series by 4-3. Sunday night’s performance was a tone setter for the finals.

Playing back-to-back games with little rest drained both squads. OKC Thunder as well as Denver Nuggets have barely had a rest for a day or two between the games this series. On top of that, a game 7 series drains even the best of the athletes.

The Sunday night Nuggets vs. Thunder saw a slow start. Both teams started cautiously before unleashing full tempo. The Denver Nuggets led the first quarter by 26-21. While the OKC Thunder made a dominating comeback in the second quarter by 39-20. Thunder took a big lead coming into the second half.

The home side continued its surge in the third quarter as well. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander played a huge part. He was shooting with more than 60% accuracy. While the Denver Nuggets offense was nowhere to be seen. The Nuggets vs. Thunder game went further adrift, with the home side taking a big lead through their 37-26 quarter score.

By the final quarter, the Nuggets had no answers left, and OKC coasted to the finish line. The Thunder defeated the Nuggets by 125-93 and took the series by 4-3. No player on the Nuggets’ offense could even manage to score beyond 20 points on Sunday.

SGA Dominates, Nuggets Lose Playoff Fire

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander dropped another MVP level performance for the OKC Thunder. In the game 7 of the Nuggets vs. Thunder series, SGA scored 35 points with 12-19 from the field. With that performance, the young forward may have clinched the MVP award this season.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on the game said, “I was nervous, to be honest, just knowing what’s on the line. We’ve worked so hard the whole 82-game season. We’ve all worked so hard in the summer, and to know like if you don’t bring your A-game, it could all be over with — all for nothing.”

He added, “But I think that nervousness like motivated me and helped me play today, like helped me give my all both ends of the floor. And I used it to my advantage. Once I felt the flow of the game, and we had the right intentions and the right energy, I knew it would turn around for us.” The OKC Thunder will now face the Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals.
