Angel Reese Ignores Caitlin Clark Rivalry Talk, Shuts Down Reporter Ahead of Fever vs. Sky Opener

The Sky star enters Saturday’s opener with sharp form and a sharper media boundary.

The Angel Reese vs. Caitlin Clark rivalry is the talk of the town with the new WNBA season approaching. Reese’s Chicago Sky are going to face Clark’s Indiana Fever for the weekend opener on Saturday. Both Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark share a renowned rivalry that can be traced from the duo’s college basketball days.

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese conducted her media duties on Monday, attending a press conference ahead of the season opener. The 23-year-old was directly asked about her comments that were made last year. The then rookie player suggested that WNBA’s sudden increase in popularity was not only down to 1 person but because of her too.

She confidently pointed out that people come to see her as well in the basketball arenas. And that even she’s equally responsible for the sudden viewership upshot. The comments drew massive hate on social media, as fans believed Reese was taking away the sole credit of the ‘Caitlin Clark effect’.

Ahead of the Indiana Fever game, Reese was again reminded about her comments. However, this time, the forward stopped the reporter midway. The interruption not only took back the journalist but also his other counterparts in the press room.

Angel Reese Cuts Reporter, No Drama

Angel Reese while stopping the reporter midway said, “Next Question.” The 23-year-old didn’t even entertain the controversial question. With the heat that she drew last season over her comments, Angel Reese must have decided to ignore the Caitlin Clark rivalry angle.

On the other hand, when it comes to the on court matters, she is ready for the Saturday game after featuring in two pre-season matches. In the first friendly tie against the Minnesota Lynx, Reese tallied 9 points and grabbed 8 boards, helping Sky edge the Lynx 74-69.

In the second match, which was a reverse fixture against Lynx, Chicago Sky went on to lose by 87-92. The 23-year-old face of the franchise managed to score 10 points and provide 6 assists. In their first game of the new WNBA season, Chicago Sky will be on the road to face Indiana Fever on Saturday.
