Tristan da Silva
Tristan da Silva is a promising professional basketball player with dual German and Brazilian citizenship, currently playing as a Small Forward/Power Forward for the Orlando Magic in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born on May 15, 2001, in Munich, Germany, and has a rich multicultural heritage. His father, Valdemar da Silva, is a former Brazilian professional boxer, and his mother is German. Tristan is fluent in five languages: German, Portuguese, Spanish, French, and English. He is also the brother of fellow basketball player Oscar da Silva, who plays for the German national team.
Youth and College Career
Tristan developed his basketball skills in Germany. In 2019-20, he simultaneously played for Schwabing in the German Regionalliga and for IBA München (International Basketball Academy, Munich) in the NBBL. With IBA München, he led the team in scoring, averaging 16.9 points per game.
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Da Silva committed to playing college basketball in the United States for the University of Colorado, joining the Colorado Buffaloes team from 2020 to 2024.
At Colorado, his career was marked by constant evolution. After a more discreet freshman season, he became one of the team’s leaders. In his final season (2023-24), Da Silva averaged 16.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game, with a 39.5% three-point shooting percentage. His performance led him to be named to the First Team All-Pac-12 in 2023 and the Second Team All-Pac-12 in 2024. He graduated with a degree in Finance from the University of Colorado in May 2024.
Professional Career – NBA
On April 29, 2024, Tristan da Silva declared for the NBA Draft, despite having remaining college eligibility.
The player was selected by the Orlando Magic with the 18th overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft. He joined two other Colorado teammates to be selected in the same Draft, Cody Williams and KJ Simpson. On July 6, 2024, he signed a 4-year contract with the Magic.
Tristan da Silva made his NBA debut on October 23, 2024, in a 116-97 victory for the Orlando Magic over the Miami Heat.
National Team
With dual citizenship (German and Brazilian), Tristan da Silva has the right to represent either nation in FIBA competitions. To date, he has played for the German National Basketball Team, following in the footsteps of his brother, Oscar da Silva. He represented Germany at FIBA EuroBasket 2025.
