NBA Insider Tips Spurs, Rockets as Top Trade Destinations for Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s season with Milwaukee Bucks came to a heartbreaking end after Indiana Pacers dominantly knocked them out in the game 5. The Bucks have underperformed in the first round and part of it is because of the current roster which is not well-equipped as well.

Given the circumstances, reports suggest that Giannis Antetokounmpo could make a push in the off season for a change. The Greek Freak has consistently been top three MVP candidates after another blockbuster season. Individually, Giannis has been doing everything he can however, the Bucks have failed to match his level.

NBA analyst Brian Windhorst has suggested that Giannis Antetokounmpo will look to leave Milwaukee, and two teams stand outright favorites to land him. The Brooklyn Nets are the only team with a huge salary cap this off season. However, Windy has suggested that the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets have a higher probability to land the 30-year-old.

He revealed that San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets both have a lottery pick. Houston Rockets despite doing well in the season have the lottery pick because Phoenix Suns gave them that in a trade. While Spurs due to their poor standings also remain in the mix of a massive draft pick.

The Rockets already have a stacked young roster, which would draw Giannis Antetokounmpo’s attention. The Rockets are also reportedly open to leveraging their youthful core in a blockbuster trade for a proven leader like Antetokounmpo. What they currently lack is a superstar and leader in the locker room, and the Greek Freak could be the one.

Spurs pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo

The San Antonio Spurs are also favorites to land Giannis. If they add Antetokounmpo, they could have a formidable trio, as Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox are already settled in the side. Defensively, the team would do quite well, making them one of the most fierce defensive trios in the league.

The timeline and trajectory would also match for San Antonio Spurs and Giannis Antetokounmpo, as the Texas based side is already in the zone of competitiveness. Spurs failed to qualify for the playoffs this season due to the untimely injury of Victor Wembanyama. It remains to be seen which side moves first in its quest for Antetokounmpo.
