‘I Had Them Figured Out’- Ja Morant Believes Grizzlies Would Have Tied Series Against Thunder Had He Not Gotten Injured

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant believes that they would have tied the first-round series against the Oklahoma City Thunder 2-2 if he didn’t get injured. Morant, who missed Game 4 of the first-round NBA Playoff series against Thunder, spoke to the media after the Grizzlies were swept by Oklahoma City. He told reporters that the series would be even 2-2 and headed back to Oklahoma City for Game 5 if he was healthy. Speaking about the threatening rivals, he said, “I had them figured out.”

The eighth-seed Grizzlies lost the first two games of the best-of-seven series to Oklahoma City Thunder. The consecutive losses didn’t come as a surprise since the Thunder were considered heavy favorites to go all the way in Western Conference.

However, the Grizzlies looked determined to get themselves on board during Game 3. They built a 29-point lead on OKC, with Ja Morant tallying 15 points and five assists in the first two quarters. However, Grizzlies’ hopes seem to have shattered when he suffered a hip contusion and wasn’t able to play after time.

The Grizzlies were able to put up only 31 points after the break without Morant and had Thunder pulling off a historic comeback to take the tally 3-0 and push their counterparts on the brink of getting eliminated. Morant was out of action for Game 4 and the Thunder clinched a narrow 117-115 victory, becoming the first team to advance to the conference semifinals.

Ja Morant Shares Six-Word Cryptic Message Following Playoffs Elimination

The 25-year-old point guard shared a cryptic message after the Grizzlies got kicked out of the championship race, leaving fans wondering. On X, Morant wrote, “Be careful what you wish for.” While the two-time All-Star didn’t clarify who he was referring to, a few sources said that he might be talking about the most recent trade reports.

According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon,“There’s a lot of whispering and rumbling around the league regarding Morant potentially being available on the trade market.” Morant has struggled with frequent injuries this season and off-court issues. In an injury-plagued season, he played only 50 games and averaged 23.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game this season.
