“There’s going to be a lot of changes” – Bam Adebayo Sheds Light on Miami’s Embarrassing Exit from Playoffs, Hints Changes in Upcoming Offseason

Adebayo says the Heat “gotta figure out” how to win a playoff game this offseason.

Miami Heat suffered a third largest playoff defeat on Monday night and faced elimination in the first round of the NBA playoffs. The Cavaliers routed the Heat 138-83 to book their place in the Western Conference semifinals. After the game, Bam Adebayo shed light on Miami’s embarrassing exit from NBA playoffs and warns everyone to see changes in the offseason.

Miami Heat faced their third playoff sweep in the NBA history and they were outscored by 122 points in the first-round playoffs series, the most lopsided playoff series in NBA history. Miami Heat won back-to-back games in Play-In Tournament to secure their place in the playoffs but suffered a 4-0 humiliation in first round.

Bam Adebayo Makes Ominous Statement on Miami’s Future Plan and Expects Pat Riley to Make Changes

Adebayo, who scored a double-double on Monday, suggested what changes need to be made with the Heat this offseason. The Miami star was talking in post-game press conference and talked about his team’s mindset of not winning a playoff game. He says the Heat “gotta figure out” how to win a playoff game this offseason.

“There’s going to be a lot of changes this summer,” Adebayo said via Michael Scotto of HoopsHype when he was asked what needs to change for the Heat this summer. “Just from my point of view, understanding how the guy with he silver hair works. Just be prepared for that.

The ‘silver hair’ was referred to Heat president Pat Riley, who will not hesitate to make changes ahead of the season 2025-26. Miami posted a 37-45 record in the regular season and finished tenth in the Eastern Conference.

Miami Heat and Jimmy Butler’s saga was discussed a lot after the trade deadline. Butler’s relationship with the franchise was questioned. The Heat declined to offer Butler a contract extension, and their season crumbled after that. Still, Miami managed to qualify for the playoffs. However, they continued their shooting struggle in the playoffs and were outclassed in all four games.

Pat Riley, AKA “the guy with the silver hair,” will look for changes in offseason. Following a remarkable campaign in 2023, Miami failed to cross the first-round in consecutive seasons. Last year, Boston Celtics thrashed them 4-1 in the first round. In last two playoff series, the Heat failed to win a single game at home-court.
