Family background of arguably the top quarterback, Cam Ward.
Cameron “Cam” Ward, a top quarterback prospect for the 2025 NFL draft, was selected with the first overall pick by the Tennessee Titans. Ward played at Incarnate Word, Washington State, and Miami. A zero-star recruit out of Columbia High School, he joined Incarnate Word in 2020, the only school to offer him. In 2021, he threw for 4,648 yards and 47 touchdowns, earning SLC Offensive Player of the Year.
Ward transferred to Washington State in 2022 and declared for the 2024 NFL Draft before opting to return and play for Miami. In 2024, he passed for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns, winning the Davey O’Brien and Manning Awards and finishing fourth in Heisman voting. Hunting for big game, Ward is a quarterback who constantly seeks to test the vertical and intermediate sections of the field.

Cam Ward’s parents are Calvin and Patrice Ward. According to an interview with the Miami Herald in 2024, Ward’s parents attended every Miami Hurricanes’ football game.
Born on May 25, 2002, Ward has three older siblings. His oldest sister is a high school basketball head coach, but no other information is available about her. Then another older sister, Chantel Award, who ran track at San Jose State University and is the shot put record holder for Houston Baptist University.
Very proud of @iamchantelward who after several delays finally was able to march today at HBU. Over the last 4 years she has gone from a near death experience to one of the highest honors in finishing in the top 3 in the Southland Conference to now graduating. #hbuhuskies2020 pic.twitter.com/s1M5j5h9tU

Quintin Jammer, a former NFL player selected by the San Diego Chargers in 2002, and Quandre Diggs, a safety for the Tennessee Titans selected by the Detroit Lions in 2015, are Ward’s relatives.
Calvin Ward, Cam’s father, played college football at the University of Houston. He has worked for over 30 years as a nuclear power plant fuel buyer. He told the Miami Herald, “It’s often hard talking to people about what I do. It’s not classified, but some things are confidential. It’s definitely interesting.”
Cam Ward’s mother is Patrice Ward. She explained to 247Sports that she was a high school basketball coach from 1992 to 2016. She returned to varsity coaching in 2024, after her oldest daughter was named head coach.
“That’s my son out there. I’m kind of sensitive at times. If people say something about my son out there, I’ll remind them that’s my boy. That’s what a mama’s going to do,” Patrice told The Miami Herald.
