The Los Angeles Lakers kicked off their 2025 NBA Playoff campaign on a disappointing note but they pulled off a comeback in the second game with a 94-85 win in Game 2. The star-studded team fell to a heavy defeat and lost the opening game 117-95 in front of their home fans. However, riding on Luka Doncic’s power-packed performance, they made a sound comeback in Game 2, hoping to convert the ‘Lakers in 5’ dream into a reality. While the Lakers were aiming to continue their winning prowess, the Timberwolves came with two back-to-back victories, taking the tally 3-1.

The Lakers finished the season with a 50-32 record and booked themselves the third berth in the Western Conference standings. Needless to say, they were considered heavy favorites to win the series over the Wolves who finished with 49-33 record to secure sixth spot in standings.

LeBron James and Co. needs to win the remaining three games in order to pave their ways to the Western Conference Semifinals. However, considering Anthony Edwards’ prolific form, it seems highly unlikely.

Lakers vs. Wolves- Who Will Inch Towards Victory?

While the Lakers were aiming to get back in the series, the loss in Game 4 has seemingly shattered their hopes. Losing the series to a lower-seeded side is the last thing that the Gold and Purple brigade would have wanted but it seems inevitable.

The LA Lakers icon LeBron James is 35 wins away from being the winningest player in the history of the league. If the team ends up winning the ongoing series and enjoys a successful campaign this season, he might even be closer. While the first-game loss took his record in series-openers to 32-24, he is still a dominating name with a 41-14 record in 55 series he has played.

Despite Luka Doncic’s 38 points in Game 4, and Bron’s 27-point performance, the Lakers couldn’t withstand Ant-Man’s power-packed gameplay of 43 points, nine rebounds, and six assists. It is to be seen if the 17-time champions are able to make one of the biggest comebacks and take the series home from this point.

While the series has turned out to be a disappointing affair for JJ Redick’s side so far, it is not over yet. They can still do the unthinkable and make a stunning comeback by winning the remaining three games. However, Anthony Edwards, who has time and again displayed his desire to win the championship, is coming off a real threat for them.

It is a tough road for the Lakers, and they would aim to leave a mark. With both teams displaying their strengths and weaknesses, the forthcoming matchup is going to be a gripping contest for fans and pundits alike.
