Established in 1989, the Orlando Magic is a member of the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference. In just six years of their debut in the league, the Magic reached into the NBA finals.

They had a franchise record of qualifying for the playoffs for six straight seasons. The Magic have struggled in the past decade when they earned the playoff spot only three times.

How Many Times Have the Orlando Magic Been to the NBA Playoffs?

Since their debut as the expansion team, the Orlando Magic have been to the NBA playoffs 17 times out of 36 seasons. They missed four consecutive playoffs after making their debut in the NBA and then, played back-to-back playoffs including the NBA Finals in 1995.

For the first time, they won 50 games in a single season in 1994 and improved their record in 1995 by winning 57 games. Magic qualified for the postseason in six consecutive seasons (2007-2012) in the 21st century.

Orland have been to the finals 2 times (1995 and 2009), have appeared in the Eastern Conference Finals 4 times, have won the divisional title 8 times so far, and have been to the 2nd round of the playoffs five times.

The Magic have qualified for the playoffs 17 times and have been to a total of 28 playoff series, of which they’ve lost 17 but won 11 of those series, placing them below .500 for a 39.2 winning percentage. The Orlando Magic are 62-78 in the playoffs all-time.

When Was Orlando Magic’s Last Playoff Appearance?

The last time we saw the Magic playing in the playoffs was back in the 2023-2024 season. The Orlando Magic qualified for the NBA Playoffs as the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference in 2024. They posted a 47-35 season record and lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-3 in the first round of the playoffs series.

How Many Finals Have the Orlando Magic Won?

Orlando Magic haven’t won an NBA championship yet but reached the NBA finals twice. The Magic reached the maiden NBA Finals in 1995 but lost to the Houston Rockets in four straight games.

In 2009, the Magic posted their best-ever regular-season record with 59-23 and they faced Kobe Bryant’s Lakers in the NBA Finals. Los Angeles overcame Orlando 4-1 in the finals. Two games went into the overtime but unfortunately, Magic were on the losing time on both occasions.
