Minnesota Timberwolves Playoff Scenario – How Can Anthony Edwards and Co. Qualify for the Playoffs?

Eric Divakaran

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been a very confusing team this season. There is no doubt that the Timberwolves were much better when Karl Anthony Towns was still in the picture, and now that they had to trade KAT away for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo, we do not know what their ceiling is this season. Anthony Edwards is still playing amazing basketball, and the rest of the crew like Jaden McDaniels and Naz Reid have kept up. However, they struggled to win games throughout the season, and did not have the efficient defense that they had last season. While there are still some doubts about this team, there is no doubt that the Timberwolves can upset some teams in the playoffs.

How can the Timberwolves Qualify for the Playoffs?

The Timberwolves are currently sitting at the 7th seed in the playoffs and are tied with the Golden State Warriors with a record of 48-33 for both the teams. When it comes to the question of how can they avoid the Play-In Tournament, the answer is pretty simple; win the last game against the Utah Jazz. The Timberwolves only need one more win and if they do that their record will stand at 49-33 and they hold the tiebreaker between the fourth seeded Denver Nuggets and the Clippers will help if records are equal.

Another advantage that the Timberwolves have is, the Warriors will face the Clippers for both their final games of the season, which means somebody is going to lose. Now that the Nuggets won the match against the Grizzlies, and the Clippers vs Warriors is still on schedule, if the Wolves secure the win against the Jazz, they will enter the playoffs, no matter which way you look at it.

The Timberwolves Have an Extremely Good Chance To Make the Playoffs

The Warriors are 3-0 against the Los Angeles Clippers, and since Kawhi Leonard has comeback from his injury, he’s remained dominant. The Clips are on a 7-game win streak currently and they have a very high chance to hand the Warriors a loss. The Timberwolves on the other hand are facing one of, if not, the worst team in the NBA currently, the Utah Jazz, who have a record of 17-64. While upsets can happen in the NBA as nothing is guaranteed, the Wolves have a way better chance of winning their final game of the season than the Warriors.

Even if the Warriors win, since the Clippers will be tied with the Timberwolves with a 49-33 record, and since the Timberwolves have the tiebreaker over the Clippers, L.A. will automatically enter the Play-In Tournament. All the Wolves need to do is get the win and the rest will be take care off, and that ladies and gentlemen, is the wild-wild west!

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
