Davante Adams Trade Destinations: Possible landing spots for the star Wide Receiver

The stir caused by the Davante Adams trade rumors is definitely worth the hype. Currently signed to a five-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders, both Adams and team seem to be exploring options that might suit their future plans. Needless to say, the trade rumor mill has started churning.

There are some good trade options that Davante Adams and the Raiders might be eyeing, irrespective of the fact that Adams doesn’t have a No-Trade clause in his contract. The financial aspect also plays a part in this development as Adams’ salary will increase from $16.9 million to $35.7 million. And to make matters worse, none of this amount is guaranteed.

With the Raiders aiming to avoid a cap hit of over $44 million from next season onwards, here are the potential landing spots for Davante Adams.

Davante Adams to the New York Jets

The reunion of Davante Adams with his former teammate Aaron Rodgers is one of the most highly anticipated trades in the NFL. The two parted ways after the 2021 season. With the Jets trying to go all-in this season, the team up of Aaron Rodgers with Davante Adams might bolster the lack-luster performance of the Jets’ wideout Garrett Wilson, who has had a slow start to his season. The Jets have a cap space of $17.2 million as opposed to Adams’ current cap value of $13.5 million.

Davante Adams to the New Orleans Saints

This shouldn’t come as a surprise as Saints were one of two teams on the Raiders wideout’s wishlist, the other being the Jets. The Saints’ starting quarterback Derek Carr was also Davante Adams’ teammate at Fresno State and with the Las Vegas Raiders. A move to the Saints makes more sense as Adams will be able to play longer with Carr, who is younger compared to the 41-year old veteran Rodgers. But a low cap space of under $5 million might put the Saints in a spot of bother.

A move to the Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs might consider giving this a go. Though Davante Adams is not as young and explosive as he once was, he is still one of the top wide receivers in the league. Not to forget, Andy Reid and co. have already lost WR Hollywood Brown for the regular season and Rashee Rice too is dealing with a knee-injury. The Raiders should be willing to do that too, provided they have to play against the Chiefs twice in 2024. Maybe, the Raiders will hold Adams back till week 8 when the Chiefs travel to Las Vegas, just to avoid any embarrassing moments. But the Chiefs have a cap space of only $4.6 million.

Pittsburgh Steelers might target Davante Adams after a failed Brandon Aiyuk trade

With a cap space north of $13 million, the Steelers might try to land Davante Adams to team him up with George Pickens. Van Jefferson is yet to find his feet this season, with only 5 receptions and 36 receiving yards in three games. Steelers can surely get Adams but how well he compliments Justin Fields-led offense is a question to ponder upon.

Dallas Cowboys might have something to say about the Davante Adams Trade

The Cowboys always keep a track of the star players in the trade market. Jerry Jones offered massive contract extensions to Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb but missed out on Derrick Henry. Dallas are 2-2 right now but they have already lost Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence to injuries. The Cowboys do need some help running the football and trading Adams might do the trick for them. Cowboys have a cap space of over $25 million.

Will Davante Adams play on Sunday vs. the Broncos?

No, Davante Adams is not expected to play on Sunday versus the Denver Broncos due to a hamstring injury. This might jeopardize his participation in Week 6 too.

The NFL trade deadline ends at 4.30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
