Chicago Bulls waive undrafted guard Marcus Domask: Will he play in G-league?

In a shocking move, the Chicago Bulls waived undrafted rookie guard Marcus Domask just two days into their training camp. Domask, who signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Bulls in July, had participated in the team’s Summer League in Las Vegas. Despite his efforts, the Bulls decided to release him, leaving the 24-year-old guard’s immediate future uncertain.

Domask, a former standout at the University of Illinois, averaged 15.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in his senior year, leading the Illini to a Big Ten Tournament championship and an Elite Eight appearance. His versatility was expected to be an asset, but the Bulls’ decision indicates a different direction for their roster.

Can Marcus Domask play in the G-league?

However, this may not be the end of Domask’s journey with the Bulls. Since the 24-year-old was waived before the regular season, he has become an affiliate player, which gives his G League rights to the Bulls.

His Exhibit 10 contract includes incentives for joining the Bulls’ G-League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls. If Domask spends at least 60 days with the Windy City Bulls, he could earn a bonus of up to $77k. This would allow him to continue developing his game and potentially earn another shot at the NBA.

For now, Marcus Domask’s professional basketball career is uncertain, but his path forward could still see him making an impact in the G-League.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls, who failed to qualify for the playoffs last season, will be looking for a turnaround in the upcoming season. However, a slow-paced trade in the offseason means it is going to be another Play-In spot journey for the Bulls.

Bulls will begin their preseason on October 9 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
