Philadelphia Flyers' Young Star Shines Bright in His First Month of NHL Action
Matvei Michkov, the young star of the Philadelphia Flyers, has been awarded the title of NHL Rookie of the Month for October. Michkov is the top rookie in the NHL for goals (4), powerplay goals (3), powerplay points (6), and is equals the Dallas Stars’ Logan Stankoven for the highest total points among rookies.
Matvei Michkov, a rising star for the Philadelphia Flyers, has been selected as the NHL’s Rookie of the Month for October. The 19-year-old generated a lot of excitement when he arrived in the U.S. in July to join the Flyers’ preseason training camps, which was two years earlier than expected.
Despite being expected to be chosen higher due to his skill and talent, Michkov was picked by the Flyers as the seventh overall in the 2023 NHL Draft, possibly because it was believed he couldn’t leave his KHL contract and come to the US before 2026.
Despite being honored as a new NHL player, Michkov remained humble, stating that he is simply focused on savoring each day’s game and preparing for the next one.
It is anticipated that the Russian winger will play in the Flyers’ upcoming game against the Boston Bruins on Nov. 2 at the Wells Fargo Center.
