On Sunday, 03/16, the Los Angeles Clippers (37-30) will host the Charlotte Hornets (17-49) in an inter-conference Regular-Season match-up. The Clippers have a comfortable hold at the 8th spot in the West, whereas the Hornets have been suffering at the 14th spot in the East. Can the bottom-feeding Hornets spring a surprise on the much-better Clippers? Read about the preview, total predictions, and player props here.
Clippers: Defensively sound, and improving offensively
The Clippers will come into this match-up after a 23-point blowout win against the Atlanta Hawks behind a 25-point performance by James Harden. It was their second straight win, and they have won five out of their last six games. Harden has been on fire in March, helping his squad cover the absence of their leading scorer, Norman Powell. He has also received incredible support from the franchise face Kawhi Leonard, who has especially helped on the scoring front. Ivica Zubac has been a stellar paint presence and has helped them a ton on the defensive end as the team has given up just 108.7 points per game(4th).
Expected Starting Lineup
PG: James Harden | SG: Kris Dunn | SF: Kawhi Leonard | PF: Nicolas Batum | C: Ivica Zubac
Key Injuries/Updates: Norman Powell is expected to be OUT till mid-March
Hornets: Another disappointing chapter in their harrowing book
The Charlotte Hornets will come into this game after an 11-point win against the San Antonio Spurs, as LaMelo Ball put in 27 points and 15 assists. It was their third win in four games, a pattern that has only been repeated the second time. Apart from that, the Hornets have suffered multiple 7-game losing streaks, relegating them to the bottom of the East. They will be hoping that the suffering results in a top pick in the 2025 draft, with the potential to land Cooper Flagg or other talented members of the stacked class.
Expected Starting Lineup
PG: LaMelo Ball | SG: DaQuan Jeffries | SG/SF: Josh Green | SF/PF: Miles Bridges | C: Mark Williams
Key Injuries/Updates: No injuries to report thus far.
The Hornets have been the worst offensive squad throughout the season, and their 145-point performance against the Spurs was an anomaly. Meanwhile, the Clippers have showered 116+ points regularly these days and have the potential to shut teams below 110 points or so. I believe they will follow a similar pattern here.
Projected Predictions:
James Harden to dish over 9.5 assists: The Beard is averaging 8.7 assists per game and 10.1 APG in March. I expect him to be in the 10-12 assists range here.
Ivica Zubac to clasp over 13.5 rebounds: The Clipps center has accumulated 12 rebounds per game in March. The Hornets can miss a ton of shots and Zubac can clean them up, rising to the 14-17 rebounds range.
Miles Bridges to score over 23.5 points: The Hornets Wing has scooped around 29 PPG in March. I expect him to be in the 24-28 points range.
Mark WIlliams to grab fewer than 9.5 rebounds: The Hornets center is averaging 10 RPG this season. However, he can be held below 9 rebounds here.
The Clippers will enter here with an overwhelming advantage. They are on their home floor against one of the worst teams, a combination that plays in their favor. Meanwhile, the Hornets have been in a sorry state throughout the season and would like to at least make this one close. However, I see Harden & Co. winning by at least 15 points.
Safe Spread Pick: Clippers -14.5 for +120 at BetMGM

nba Hi, I am Shubham. I am currently an NBA Predictions Writer on The Playoffs. I enjoy this job because it helps keep me in the loop about the game I love while fulfilling the pleasure I derive from stats. I got into NBA writing through social media interactions in the mid-2010s as I shared my takes on young talents such as D’Angelo Russell. I hope you enjoy reading my pieces as much as Dennis Rodman loved rebounding the basketball!
